English Paper Piece Quilting ***Over 2 Weeks***
July 29 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Quilting is very on trend at the moment. Quilted bags and jackets are gracing the catwalks. So come join us for this two part workshop where you will learn the technique of English Paper Piecing which you can then decide what to applique (attach) it to. To demonstrate how you might use English Paper Piecing, Lucy our lovely tutor has made two examples a cushion and a bag both made from old shirts. You could decide to applique to a jacket, use it on jeans or table mats or anything else. We are quite excited to see how you do use it!
This workshop is all hand sewing and is suitable for age 10 to Adult. Secondary School children are allowed to attend independently. This is a great workshop to learn new skills with your older kids.
In these examples the quilted section is made from old school uniform, gingham dress, school shirts and a light cotton summer top. Old pillow cases and duvet covers are also suitable to use. You can bring clothing/fabrics that you would like to use or we do have donated fabrics at The Hub that you can choose from.
This workshop will take place over two sessions, one week apart. The first session is Fri 29th July 2-4pm and the second is Fri 5th Aug 2-4pm, you will have some homework to complete between sessions and will need to attend both sessions to complete your project. Please ensure that you are available for both sessions before you book.
Places are limited on this workshop to ensure everyone gets the attention they need to successfully complete their project so book your place now.
There is a suggested donation of £5 to participate.
