We’re thrilled to announce that Greener and Cleaner has been shortlisted for this year’s Global Good Awards in the ‘Climate For Good’ category.
The award recognises initiatives that combine effective climate action with broader social and environmental benefits, and highlights the work of Greener and Cleaner’s Community Hub.
Since opening our doors in 2022, the Hub has successfully supported more than 30,000 local residents. Around 1,000 people visit the Hub each month and it’s looked after by a team of more than sixty knowledgeable local volunteers and staff.
The sustainability benefits of the Hub are clear: a recent study found that two-thirds of Hub users reduced how much stuff they buy, 46% lowered energy use at home, and 56% said their awareness of environmental issues had increased ‘significantly’ or ‘very much’ since engaging with us.
As well as this, our Community Hub has a significant social and mental health impact – it’s a place where people can forge social connections, develop new interests, build community resilience, gain employability skills, and combat the effects of loneliness or the cost of living crisis.
We want to say a huge thank you to the Global Good Award judges for recognising the work of the Hub community. It’s an honour to be counted alongside so many trailblazing initiatives doing incredible work all around the world and we’re so proud of the change we’re making together.
The award winners will be chosen in September – wish us luck!
